"Fastest Freshman in the History of Illinois"

We can't say enough about this outstanding Athletic and Academic achiever. Katrina, a straight A student, set 8th grade state records in the 800m and 1600m runs in 2018. Then followed up with an outstanding freshman cross country season where she placed 2nd in the big IESA 3A State

event with Batavia High School. “It was the fourth-fastest time in state history,” Batavia coach Chad Hillman said. “She was the fastest freshman in the history of Illinois.” We would be out of line if we don't also mention Liana Surtz of Aurora Rosary, Marianne Mihas, and Ava Parekh of Chicago Lutheran. These three took 1st, 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in an outstanding field at IESA 2A State. Liana and Ava were instrumental in helping the DEA Nation 4x800 team that surprised AAU Track competitors when they took 2nd place in the nation at the Junior Olympic Event this past summer.
